Windscreen Repairs

It only takes a second for a piece of gravel to hit your windscreen leaving you with a nice chip in the middle of it. But how often do we go out and have the chip repaired immediately? To many of us, the chip is a minor irritation, that is, until it becomes a bigger crack.

You can save yourself a fair bit of hassle and not waste any more money than you have to by repairing your windscreen before the damage spreads any further. You see, that tiny chip in your windscreen will grow and eventually become a long crack which means you will need to replace the entire windscreen. If done in time, chips, small cracks and edge cracks can easily be repaired. This is a quick, hassle free job done at any glass fitment centre and is a lot cheaper than windscreen replacement.

Not only does a damaged windscreen look bad but they can actually affect the overall safety of you and your passengers if not fixed. If you are in an accident, a faulty windscreen won’t be able to withstand the impact as much as a normal windscreen.

To stop a chip or crack from spreading, the air trapped inside the crack is forced out and replaced with a special windscreen resin that matches the strength and durability of your windscreen as well as matching its tinting and refraction of light.

Beside the savings in cost and time, windscreen repairs have other advantages too. Not only will you keep your original factory fitted windscreen seal but because most windscreens are not able to be recycled, having your windscreen repaired is a far more eco conscious choice than replacement.

Unfortunately there are just some faults that can’t be fixed. If there is damage on both sides of the glass, the internal layer or even the PVC layer of your windscreen is damaged by dirt that has become ingrained or through delamination, then you will need to have the entire windscreen replaced.
