Garden Maintenance
While a garden is a wonderful thing to have, it does take a lot of care and maintenance to keep it looking the way you want it to. Once you know the basics of gardening though and have an idea of what does well in your garden and what doesn’t, you will find that the task not only becomes easier but it becomes fun too.
If you have a good gardening routine which you are able to stick to you will find that most of your work is done easily and without fuss. And once you have your routine down pat the rewards will become noticeable.
So what are the gardening basics that you should know?
A very simple solution to maintaining your garden is to remove any dying or dead flower buds or stalks from your plants. This gives the plants a chance to grow more freely. Pruning is also a great way to revive any plants that have been looking somewhat tired.
Another good way to control how your plants grow is to pinch the stems of any plants that are growing too tall or out of control. It is best to do this early in the season. This is essential for thin-stemmed plants that will sag if allowed to grow too tall due to the extra weight they would be carrying. It also keeps your garden neat.
Stop your garden from growing over too wild and getting that shabby look by regularly cutting back the overgrowth. This will also give plants you thought were just about dead a new boost of life and growth while thin plants are given the chance to grow into something fuller rather than being allowed to become to straggly.
Make a list of regular garden maintenance tasks and make sure you stick to them. These tasks are essential to the health of your garden and include weeding, watering and staking of tall plants. If you feel you don’t have the time or the gift of green fingers you can hire a professional gardening service to come and maintain your garden for you.
