Garage conversions
Plenty people have it, but most don’t use it.Your garage is the extra space you never thought you had. Most of us use this space to store old sports equipment, broken appliances and is a general mess of forgotten things. But did you ever wonder what you could really use that extra space for?
Garage conversions are wonderfully convenient especially since your garage is normally situated quite conveniently such as right next to your house and in fact, many garages already have a door leading in to your house. The conversion is seamless and often all you need to do is make some minor changes and add some new fittings. You may not realise it, but once you get rid of all that junk lining the edges of your garage, you will see that the space is actually quite big and, if you are lucky enough to have a double garage, you could even create two new rooms for your home.
Converting your garage is a personal experience and you will want to plan it according to the specific requirements and demands of your family situation. There are plenty of reasons people are converting their garages. For some, their family is growing up and they all need some extra space to be able to live comfortably together while others may need to create an extra room in order to look after their parents or simply because they want a spare room for guests. Many people find that the garage makes a great location for their new home business’s office.
As with any building project, there are some steps that need to be completed before you can start converting your garage. Building permission needs to be granted and your designs and plans need to be created. Remember your plans need to include any structural changes such as raising the roof or adding in a wall as well as minor fittings such as flooring and cupboards. Once you have your plans and you are happy with it, you can start listing your materials and what professionals such as builders, electricians and/or plumbers, you will need to hire.
